Wolverton Light Orchestra has supported many local and national charities in the past including Willen Hospice, the Scanner appeal at Stoke Mandeville, the Leon Heart fund and the Gurkha Welfare Trust along with many others.

In recent years we supported more charities than ever before. We made contributions to the following and where possible we ask for the money to be used locally. In the case of the Black Sheep Collective, money is used to support people in Wolverton. Despite covid for the past couple of years we have still been able to make some donations to local charities.

Below are some of the charities we have supported.

Supported Charities

The Hollie Foundation

Hollie, was diagnosed with Niemann Pick Type C (‘NP-C’) an extremely rare and devastating genetic condition which causes neurological decline and childhood dementia and for which there is currently no cure. Less than 50 children suffer from this condition in the UK. The charity supports the children and their families.

Other recently supported charities include Macmillan Cancer Support and CLIC Sargent (now called Young Live vs Cancer).

The orchestra seeks to help the community where possible and has offered tickets to local care homes in the past. This initiative has been assisted by funding from the mkcommunity foundation. The mkcommunity foundation has also provided a grant to the orchestra, which has been used to purchase new stands which were much needed given the state of our ageing stands. We thank them!
